How to Manage Live or Scheduled Voting

Table of contents

Voteer offers flexible options to manage the opening and closing of votes, whether you are organizing a live vote (during a meeting) or a scheduled vote (over a period).

Two Opening Modes

1. Live Voting (Manual Opening)

Use this mode when your vote takes place during a meeting or event in real time.

You manually control when each question opens and closes

2. Voting Over a Period (Automatic Opening)

This is the most common mode for elections.

Questions will automatically open and close according to the start and end dates and times defined for the scrutin.

Important - Only questions with the status “Validated” will be automatically opened. Questions that are still in “Modifiable” status will not open even if the scrutin period has started.

How to Configure Ballot Opening

    1. When creating or editing your scrutin, go to the Configuration section.
    2. Define the overall voting period (start date & time → end date & time).
    3. For each individual question, set the status to Validated so it can open automatically.
    4. Choose your preferred mode:
      • Automatic (recommended for scheduled elections)
      • Manual (recommended for live votes)
  • How to Manage Vote Status

After configuring the opening mode in the Configuration menu, the status of each question is managed and supervised in the Live Votes section.

Here are the different statuses available:

    Status Description
Draft Configuration in progress. Voters cannot access the ballot.
On Going The ballot is sealed and voting is enabled.
Ended Voting is closed and counting can begin.
Deleted Ballot data has been permanently removed according to retention rules.

    Best Practices

For elections over a period, always use automatic opening to ensure fairness and punctuality.

For live votes (e.g., General Meetings), use manual opening to maintain full control during the session.

This flexibility allows you to perfectly adapt Voteer to both live and scheduled voting scenarios while maintaining complete control over the process.
